Description
This course is meant to acquaint the students with modern and contemporary Irish literature (18th – 20th centuries) in general, and with its tendencies, literary movements, writers and their writings in particular. The module deals with what is specific but also with what is universal in the manifestations of the Irish literary phenomenon, the ways Ireland and Irish life are represented in the writings offered for discussion. The final goal is to offer the students the necessary knowledge to understand the way Ireland is represented textually, the way the concept of Irishness takes shape. A number of texts considered representative for the topics are included to familiarize the students with what was created on the literary plan in these periods.
Acest curs este menit sa familiarizeze studenţii cu literatura irlandeză văzută în special în perspectivă diacronică, şi anume cu principalele manifestări şi direcţii literare şi cu cele mai importante nume de pe scena literară irlandeză din timpurile gaelice şi până la începutul secolului al XX-lea. Abordarea de bază este cea tematică în cazul fiecărui autor discutat. Modulul încearcă să detaşeze ceea ce este specific irlandez dar şi aspectele de universalitate din cadrul fenomenului literar irlandez, modalitatea cum Irlanda şi viaţa din Irlanda sunt reprezentate textual, felul cum se conturează conceptul de identitate irlandeză. Se includ un număr de texte specifice perioadelor discutate având drept scop să îi apropie pe studenţi de ceea ce s-a creat pe plan cultural-literar în aceşti ani.
